EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: Boise State Welcomes Chef Nathan Child
Boise State University Dining Services has hired a new executive chef, Nathan Child, to add flavor and flair to the campus dining experience. Child has the opportunity to add his own signature style to Boise State’s catering, Boise River Café and athletics meal planning, as well as influence some retail dining options across campus. Child draws culinary inspiration from exotic food cultures and bold flavors from around the world. He also partners with local farmers, producers and other food artisans to capitalize on southern Idaho flavors.
BOISE STATE IS FINALIST FOR OPERATION HAT TRICK AWARD
Efforts by Trademark Licensing, Bronco Shop and Veteran Services, qualifies Boise State as a finalist for the Operation Hat Trick Excellence in Service Award. The award recognizes a collegiate institution’s efforts to support the recovery of wounded service members and veterans through sales of co-branded merchandise, where a portion of proceeds is donated to charities which assist in the rehabilitation of veterans.
Orange shuttle line will run through summer
To support Boise State’s expansion into downtown, the Department of Public Safety will run one free shuttle on the orange downtown route during the summer. This is a new service for summer students, faculty and staff.
Public Safety’s Mason second in annual appathon
Andrew Mason, an employee in the Department of Public Safety, and his team placed second in the 2017 Bronco Appathon, while also snagging awards for “Best Design” and “Best in Novice”.
Congrats, Don Whitehead!
Don Whitehead of Facilities, Operations and Maintenance was nominated for the David S. Taylor Service to Students Award at this year’s Student Involvement Campus Awards Ceremony. The David S. Taylor Service to Students award highlights those who have provided exemplary service to students throughout the year.
Participate in University Day and Arbor Day
Boise State’s annual University Day will take place 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., April 26. Participate in sprucing up the campus prior to commencement. Check in at the SUB Patio and in the Quad and get a free t-shirt!
The campus Arbor Day celebration will take place 10 a.m., Friday, April 28, in the Quad. Volunteers are welcome to help in planting a tree.
Risk Management and Insurance adds Two to Staff
Boise State’s Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) office is a small, three-person operation with a big job. Led by Kip McBean, ARM Risk Manager, the RMI office serves the university by protecting assets from the consequences of loss posed by threats from all natural and manmade hazards. In addition, they serve as a resource to provide a safe, disaster-resistant university for the entire campus.
FINE ARTS Groundbreaking May 2
The groundbreaking ceremony for the Fine Arts Building will take place 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 2, 2017, in the Towers Parking Lot. All staff members are invited to attend.
HONORS COLLEGE DINING HALL NAMING CONTEST
Submit an entry to name the new dining space located in the Honors College and Sawtooth Hall. Submissions for the contest run through April 28, 2017. The new space will enhance the quality of food service on campus with a focus on fresh food concepts and expanded hours.
CYCLE LEARNING CENTER OFFERS FREE BIKE DEMOS
The Cycle Learning Center is offering free demo rides on all types of rental bikes in conjunction with BroncoFit week, April 24-29, and May in Motion. Everyone is welcome to stop by the shop and take a bike out for a ride in order to try something new or different.
SIGN UP FOR COFFEE WITH KEVIN
A monthly opportunity is available for division members to meet and converse with Kevin Satterlee, Chief Operating Officer. The first Friday each month, he will host 15-minute visits with individuals or teams of up to five people.
NOMINATE DIVISION EMPLOYEES OF THE YEAR
Boise State’s Campus Operations Division Employee of the Year awards will be given out each year at the divisional meeting. Nominations are open year-round for the three awards aligned with our division goals: 1) Empathy for the Customer, 2) Attention to Detail, and 3) Imputed Quality.
